First Date Body Language
So, you have arrived at your first date with someone who, until now, you have only communicated with online or by telephone. This is your first face to face meeting. Of course, you will be excited and nervous about this first date. How are you both going to feel about each other? If you have been getting on really well so far with online dating, will the chemistry continue to flow across a restaurant table the same as across the internet?
Jo Hemmings is an expert in Behavioural Psychology and she is also a Dating Coach. Below are her top three body language tips to look out for on the first date. These behaviours are a little more unusual and less well known, but they are instant giveaways that somebody finds you attractive.
She is interested in you if:
She exposes her wrists by pulling up her sleeves (wrists are softest part of body).
She closes the distance between you both by sliding a wineglass (or other object on the table) towards you, bringing you closer.
She flicks her hair and plays with her necklace.
He is interested in you if:
He glances at each of your eyes and then down to your mouth, then back up again to your eyes. This is known as the ‘flirting triangle’.
He puffs himself up by breathing in and throwing his shoulders back (a bit like a strutting peacock).
He stands like a cowboy. Adopting a cowboy stance with thumbs through his belt loops, hands on hips.
